What Conditions Do a Chemical Peel Treat?
Chemical peels are performed on the face, neck or hands. They can be used to:
- Reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth
- Treat wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging and hereditary factors
- Improve the appearance of mild scarring
- Treat certain types of acne
- Reduce age spots, freckles and dark patches due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills (melasma)
- Improve the look and feel of skin that is dull in texture and color
Who Is a Good Candidate For a Chemical Peel?
Generally, fair-skinned and light-haired patients are ideal candidates for chemical peels. Darker skin types usually also have good results, depending upon the type of problem being treated.
Preparing for a Chemical Peel
We may ask you to stop taking certain medications and may want to have you prepare your skin with topical preconditioning medications such as a topical Retin-A.
What to Expect During the Procedure
During the procedure, most patients experience a warm to somewhat hot sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. Cool compresses may be applied to help alleviate this stinging.
What To Expect After the Chemical Peel
A reaction similar to sunburn occurs following the procedure. Peeling usually involves redness, followed by scaling that ends within three to seven days. We will apply an antiseptic ointment over the area and you will need to keep the area covered with an antiseptic ointment throughout the peeling process. You should stay out of the sun as much as possible.

Obagi Blue Peel™ :
The Blue Peel is one of our deeper peels. It is an office based procedure designed to significantly improve the appearance and health of your skin. Using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) mixed with a special blue base to slow penetration, the blue peel allows our physicians and aestheticians to monitor the appropriate depth to effectively remove the layers of aged and damaged skin from the face and other parts of the body. Because of the depth of this peel, proper skin preparation for 6 weeks prior is highly encouraged.

MICRODERMABRASION LEVEL I AND II Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-surgical skin refinishing procedure using sterile diamond heads to exfoliate the top layers of skin. It works great to remove small imperfections, blemishes, fine wrinkles, clean the pores, and lighten pigmented areas. There is virtually no recovery time. It provides immediate results and can be performed anywhere on the skin. We use a top quality diamond microdermabrasion machine that also has a hot and cold wand to calm the skin after the procedure, and an ultrasound wand which has a warming action that can increase circulation.
